Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to independently manage a portfolio of approximately 15 clients. You will be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping, month-end close, financial reporting, and tax-ready file preparation using QuickBooks Online and integrated tools.

This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a structured, process-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for ~15 Canadian business clients
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Categorize transactions according to Canadian accounting standards (ASPE)
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable processes when applicable
  • Ensure monthly financial records are clean and tax-ready

Month-End & Reporting

  • Perform month-end close procedures for all assigned clients
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and intercompany accounts
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow if required)
  • Identify inconsistencies and proactively resolve accounting issues

Tax Preparation Support

  • Collaborate with tax reviewers or CPA leads

Client Communication

  • Respond to client accounting inquiries in a structured and professional manner
  • Request missing documents and ensure compliance deadlines are met
  • Explain financial results in simple, client-friendly language when needed

Systems & Process Optimization

  • Work primarily in QuickBooks Online and integrated tools
  • Follow standardized SOPs for bookkeeping and month-end close
  • Identify process inefficiencies and suggest automation improvements
  • Maintain high data integrity across all client files

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • QuickBooks Online Certification (mandatory)
  • 3–7+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Experience managing multiple clients or entities simultaneously
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently

Technical Skills

  • QuickBooks Online (Advanced proficiency required)
  • Bank reconciliation & financial statement preparation
  • Chart of accounts structuring
  • Expense categorization and COGS allocation
  • Familiarity with tools such as TaxPrep, TaxDome, or similar systems is an asset
  • Comfort working in cloud-based, remote-first environments
